Lacie 500 Gig drive not seating
Posted by Suaangan on August 23, 2006 at 4:56 pmWe have a Lacie 500G drive that is not seating in any of our three G5s and one G4. Any ideas?

August 23, 2006 at 5:10 pmIs it a firewire drive? If so, I’ve had the same problem. Try manipulating the connector in either the drive or your computer. I’ve had firewire slots break loose in both my powerbook and G5. If that doesn’t work and you are using an 800 cable, try using the 400 cable and the appropriate slots instead. Sometimes I find having the cable angled in a weird way prevents a full connection – it turns the drive on, but is not seen by the G5. If I lift the cable ever so slightly, I can get it to come up.
Hope this helps,
Chris

August 23, 2006 at 5:16 pmI’ve read some horror stories about Lacies absolutely quitting. Have you ever shipped anything back to Lacie to try and recover files?
