Recently we cleaned up our XSAN Volume and resorted several files that were loaded into the wrong Capture Scratch folders from various projects.

I’m now attempting to reconnect this media using the Media Manager, but instead of looking for the actual name of the file, FinalCut is looking for a file called ”. It says “File Name: ” is missing.”

However, when I manually look on the drives using the Finder, I can see the files on the server.

Is there a bug in FCP that isn’t allowing it to look for the right files?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

We’ve seen this “.” issue before but I cannot recall seeing it since the old 4.0-4.5 days.

Why are you using Media Manager to reconnect?

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

We have a FCP project for each of our various brands, and we keep all of our commercials we’ve produced over the years loaded onto our XSAN. Sometimes, we might forget to change the capture scratch location when digitizing a spot therefore it goes into the wrong folder on the XSAN.

If we reimport all the files back into the project, as a work around, we loose all the IN/OUT marks as well as any adjustments to volume levels and color correction.

Media Manager allows us to retain these settings while relinking the original file from the hard drive.
