Just upgraded to AE7 pro (the Creative Suite premium version)and I’m trying to play around with the text animation presets. But none of them seem to work. I’ve noticed that there is an asterisk on the >*Animation Presets in the Effects and Presets panel.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks

Not sure why they wouldn’t work….they work fine here….

Let me try it this way…

If I want to use the Center spiral preset what do I do. Walk me through. I’m usually not so confused about these things but the drag and drop thing doesn’t seem to apply any changes to my text.

Do I use path text to create the text, then apply the preset? What is the order of events.

    Thanks

Umm, you create a text layer with the text tool and apply the preset. not sure why you don’t understand the concept. Sounds like you aren’t even aware of those architectural changes in AE ever since v6.

Thanks! The text tool was what I was missing. I was trying to use the text filter to create the text, then apply the preset to that layer. That wasn’t working.

I didn’t update to 6.5 so the text tool was not part of my text animation toolbox.
