rendering problem
We’re doing an off-line edit with film footage that has been transferred to DVCpro (DV/DVCpro-NT). The DVCpro source material is 720 x 486, 29.97fps, and the pixel aspect is NTSC-CCIR 601. The field dominance is lower(even). We’d like to burn a DVD copy of our off-line edit, but we cannot seem to find a setting in FCP that will allow us to render the project glitch-free. (It plays fine in the timeline without rendering, and we can export to tape by playing it in the timeline, but we can’t actually RENDER anything without a number of horizontal glitches showing up in each frame.) Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Double check your presets for the sequence and for capture. I don’t know why it would glitch, but I noticed that you refer to DVC/DV video as 720×486. Native DVC/DV is actually 720×480. Might be causing the problem.

The source footage for our off-line is DVCpro25…and 720 x 486 is native for that particular format…we’ve double checked with the lab and with several solid sources. That being said, we’ve tried FCP settings using both 720 x 486 and 720 x 480 and consistently have the same horizontal glitching problem after render. Again, the project plays fine in the timeline, and we can play it out to tape, but we’ve tried every setting imaginable (seemingly) and are still unable to render it without the glitching, making it impossible to render and burn a clean DVD from the off-line version of our project. Surely there is something we haven’t tried that will work. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
