    when i capture clips from a sony ZR1 into final cut using the Capture now function, it detects the change over of clips and will seperate them into individual clips. but if i use a sony deck DHR-25 (i think thats the model) to Capture, it will all be as a single clip

    is this something to do with HDV vs SD. is there anyway of telling FCP to split standard definition clips up like it does with HDV?

    HDV, by design, will “break” during tha capture, each time the camcorder was paused during the shoot.

    i though SD broke clips up on the tape as well, in Imovie when you capture SD DV, it will break up clips, so can you tell FCP to do the same?

    AFTER you capture the longer clips in FCP, just select that captured file and choose “DV Start/Stop Detect” from the Mark menu and every time the camera was stopped a new scene will be “created”.
    It works in just a few seconds.
