I accidentally deleted some media files from my external hard drive so I assume I need to recapture them from the original cassettes. However, I do not see a way to do this. All the “reconnect media” commands seem to search the drives, not the cassette inserted in the deck even though I have the in and out points for the clips in the project file. Is there a way to re-do a batch capture? Or is there another command I can use?

    Thanks

Select the clips that are offline, right click (or control click) and select batch capture. You are right in that reconnect media is attempting to reconnect to existing media on your drive, which in this case is gone.

Thanks for the quick response. One clarification. Do I select the clips in the timeline or the bin? Thanks again

You can batch capture from either place, it sort of depends on how you structured your original project.

I tend to start with what’s in the bin, but that’s because I log and capture, and my organization is pretty good. I like to keep an eye on the list….which you don’t get when you batch capture from the timeline.

The bin. It will save you headaches later. If for some reason the media doesn’t connect in the timeline (master affiliate relationship is broken) then you can can just reconnect from the timeline to the clip that was digitized form the bin.
