  24p logging/capture dilemma

  I’ve searched the creative cow (and dvxuser) board multiple times, but I can’t find the best answer to my question. Pls forgive the fact that this is redundant, but I do appreciate any input.

  I shot 10 hours of doc footage on my dvx100b in f5 24p normal. I then started batching the footage in FCP Studio with the wrong settings… I chose 23.98…

  Now, I’ve batched LOGGED 9 hours… but have NOT yet captured all of that footage. However I HAVE captured 1 hour of footage so far… again, this is f5 24pn footage captured with a 23.98 setting (and it looks mildly jaggedy and stroby).

  So the question is how to best rectify this situation? I have hundreds of batch log in-and-out points that I do NOT want to loose, however I assume that since I haven’t actually captured the footage, it shouldn’t be a big deal, right? So should I:

  1. Export the batch list as is, and then import it back into a new project with proper 29.98 settings and THEN go ahead and capture everything? If so, then I assume I will also need to re-log and re-capture the hour of footage I have currently captured incorrectly, right?

  or

  2. Just change the sequence and capture preset settings (ie, via Audio/Video settings) in the project to “DV NTSC 48 kHz” and then all I have to do is recapture the 1 hour of footage?

  or

  3. capture everything at 23.98 and reverse telecine it all afterwards? in which case I’d have all 24p footage on a 24p timeline… which may be beneficial if I choose to do a 24p DVD… but will I loose image quality this way (I already know I will loose time…)?

  Final output will be DVD, miniDV, and web streaming broadcast.

  Thoughts? Thanks for ANY input.
