I’m still in a real bind and hoping someone has some new solutions to this problem. In brief: large FCP HD project, when I try to open it loads everything and at the point of “preparing video for display” it crashes FCP. I have PowerMac G5 with 3 drives and still plenty of space. I’ve taken advice of taking media drive off line – but it still crashes at same spot. When I open in FCP 4 it says that the project is ‘corrupt’. I don’t have back-up of sequence. I’ve since purchased DiskWarrior and repaired media drive but the problem still occurs. What puzzles me is that taking all the media off line does not get FCP HD to open the project. I don’t think it’s within a clip or all the solutions of taking media off line would have at least gotten me further than FCP HD crashing upon ‘preparing video for display’. Is it possible that it’s something to do with FCP HD itself rather than a media clip? Does anyone know? I am at a frustrated (and month long proplem) loss. Thank you.
