resizeing DV-24p video causes jaggies and aliasing
Hi-
Does anyone have experience with this problem? I am editing on FCP with a dual G5. I am trying to resize an image and composite it over another to make a picture in picture. The image is being resized less than 40% the original size and then skewed to fit a 16X9 screen. It creates jaggies and aliasing throughout the image and around the edges. The director insists that it is possible to do this without the distortion. The image is not being stretched at all; just resized. Anyone? Please help!-Angel

If you’re shrinking it, have you tried moving the image up or down 1 pixel to keep the interlacing the same?
And when you say you’re “skewing” it to fit 16:9, it sounds like you *are* stretching it. What do you mean by that?

Also… anytime I use a PIP effect, I use a slight gaussian blur on the image to remove that sharpness. Only use a gaussian blur of about 1, you don’t want to loose detail.

I missed the 24P in the subject heading. That leads me to think the sequence may not match the footage.
