FCP & Automatic Duck 24p Question – Scrambled Timecode
Here’s my situation: I have footage that was shot in DVCPRO50 at 24p Normal. I’ve been editing it in FCP 5 at 29.97 fps. I’m going to be onlining the project on an Avid Symphony Nitris, then transferring it to film. The post-production house that is doing the film transfer says that it will make our lives a lot easier if we do the online at 23.98 fps.
Our online facility has Automatic Duck, but when they tried to do a test earlier and Automatic Duck a 23.98 FCP sequence that I had created, it ended up scrambling all the timecodes. So my question is, what’s the best way to go about this? Can this be resolved just by messing around with Automatic Duck or are there other issues I need to take care of?
This question covers a few categories, so I’m posting it in both the Final Cut and Automatic Duck forums.
Thanks!
