  Firewire Hub-External Drive and Camera at same time?

  If I run a camcorder and external hard drive through a firewire hub, can I capture from the camera into the external hard drive through FCP at the same time?

  Since I’m running a powerbook (with only one firewire port) I am forced to capture tapes into my computer and then unplug camera, plug harddrive into fw port and then transfer them from computer to ext. harddrive.

  Before I buy a firewire hub, I just wanted to make sure I could capture from a camera into an external harddrive if both were plugged into the same firewire hub (consequently, both going into one firewire port on the computer).

  Any help or suggestions would be great!

  There is no NEED for a FW “Hub” as Daisy-Chaining the camcorder to the second port on the back of the FW Hard Drive case will be exactly the same thing as connecting the Hub.

  If you have a Powerbook, you should buy a Firewire PCMCIA Card for the card slot.

  That will give you a new second FW Bus for the computer.
