  video gone in Canvas

  I copied and pasted a sequence from one project to another. The video and audio for both projects is all there and the audio plays back correctly in Canvas, but the video in the canvas only shows on the monitor when I stop. No video motion…just black. The opposite is true for Viewer as the video plays but not audio.

  Double clicking on the individual clips opens video motion in the viewer with no audio…what the?

  I have restarted the computer with no change.

  g5, 2mhz, 8gig ram, fcp 4.5hd, external sata drives

  I have until 10am today to figure this out or will likely miss the 48hr deadline.

  the other variable is that I captured and edited native 16:9 from an xl canon, progressive with the drop frame box checked in User Preferences/Timeline Options

  press cmd-f12 … that should turn on “all frames” in the vdeo playback settings … also check that your canvas window is not overlapping and/or is partially hidden by another window, and that your video fits within the canvas window (select the canvas and press shift-Z, which is “fit to window”)

  is this true when you double click a clip w/audio in the browser, or only double clicking a clip in the timeline? if you have “linked selection” turned off then only that aspect of the clip that ypu double click will load in the viwer … turn on “linked selection” (shift-L) and see if works more as you’d expect

  thanks, the issue was fixed: view/wireframe changed to image

  Should I be editing progressive with the drop frame unchecked in user preferences/timeline options/drop frame? I do have some lip sync problems and wonder if this is contributing.

  Drop frame is a type of timecode which skips frame numbers to keep the video timecode consistent with the clock on the wall.

  It has nothing whatsoever to do with lip sync.
