I’ve just finished searching the archives, so if I’ve missed this and it’s been addressed, as I’m sure it has, I apologize. I’m outputting a 90 min movie to mp2 and using what I think are the quickest settings for compressor, it’s taking 20 hours. I’m using:
    Fastest encode 90 min 16:9
Change setting to 1 pass from 1 pass VBR
and pretty much leave the rest as is.
How far from reality am I? The old QT would do 90 mins in about 4x real time, what have I done wrong to slow things down … even after upgrading my maching
    2gig dual 6 gig ram …

Sure sounds like it should be faster then… HDV can take this long, but DVCPRO100 codecs should be fairly fast actually. Might be worth reading my article in the current issue of the COW mag… It’s about “upgrading”- how to do it.

If you didn’t perform a really clean install of Tiger when you went to that sofware… it’s time I’ll bet.
