Dolby E – bit off topic
Wanted to get a sense of what you guys were doing wrt to Dolby E encoding. I have read up through various sources of what is involved, from the frame delay to the encoding gear etc. I am basically planning on sending this out to be done for me. I am getting rates around $11-14 per minute. (That’s a Canadian dollar, minutes are the same) The encoding gear itself seems to be about $7K which seems pretty stiff right now. My main concern is that clients are getting a bit worried about too many links in the chain and would turn to the bigger facilities that offer on stop shopping. Anyone taken the plunge on this already, or thinking about it. It will be something I need to figure out by late September. Thanks for any replies.
