  • Adjusting Video Capture Input Levels

Using FCP 5 and am capturing video straight Firewire DV NTSC from my deck (Sony DSR-1500A).

I am puzzled as to how I can adjust the sliders that appear when the log/capture window is open with the Clip Settings tab selected. I see the adjustment sliders for white and black levels but they are greyed out with the “Use Digitizer’s Default Settings” button selected. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to capture some really underexposed third-party video and have to resort to using level filters once the footage is captured which are taking a long time to render. Would like to adjust capture white levels (if possible). Will this feature only be enabled when utilizing special video capture cards/drivers?

    Thanks in advance.

You cannot. DV is DV… digital. What you get off the camera is what went ON the camera.

Those sliders are for other capture cards should you have one.

[CaptainMench] “Those sliders are for other capture cards should you have one.”

Specifically, those sliders are for video coming into a capture card via analog connections.
