I have a question, that may be basic, but nevertheless I’m a newbie and thought maybe you guys could help out.

I’m working on a piece where all of my subjects are in color, and the backgrounds are black and white. I was able to accomplish this to an extent with 8 point mattes and various other tools in FCP, but the colors bleed a little bit, and the effect doesn’t look as clean as I want it to. Is there anyway in After Effects to accomplish this easier? Thanks a lot!

Use the Pen tool to create a mask on an adjustment layer with a hue and saturation effects applied to it. If you need to animate the mask shape, Hit “M” and set the stop watch for the mask shape and change it as needed. You can’t really add extra points when animating so add enough in the beginning before animating.

    Good Luck

    Use the “leave color” filter.
