  Droped Frames while digitzing error?

  Hi all, I have a problem that cropped up on friday and didn’t get solved before quitting time. Here is the basics:

  I’m trying to digitize a 3 1/2 minute long tape and Final Cut will make a first attempt to digitze, then a second, then give me an error message that it encountered dropped frames and could not digitize.

  I am using sony beta decks (not sure the specific model), and they are connected to an AJA IO.

  I tried two different decks (one playback only, one playback and record) and tried the decks in both DF and NDF positions. Also tried pulling the video from two different tapes and also pulling different video from several different tapes.

  The problem is more perplexing because I can digitze small chunks of video (1 1/2 min tops) and I get no errors.

  Have tried changing the settings on Final Cut and on the AJA but no luck at all.

  Anyone have any idea what might be the problem? On monday at work I can post any specific technical specs when I am sitting in front of the edit bay.

  We are using 8 bit uncompressed NTSC video, BTW.

  8 bit uncompressed? What kind of drives are you using? The clip is quite short, so I bet slow drives is your problem.
