I have a adjustment layer with levels on it .. when I lower the white input and increase the black input I am getting a kind of pixelation to any gradients within my comp they are subtle but when rendered it makes the video looked poorly compressed, and there is no compression. Is there any solution to this? or is the nature of the beast?

Try doing a search for banding or 8-bit on this forum….This has been discussed many times in the past. Basically you are seeing the result of working in 8-bit color (16 millions of colors)….You are falling outside of this range…(R,G,B each has 0-255 levels, multiply them for the 16 million possibilites) working in 16-bit would help, but you would encounter the same problems if your output card recompressed to an 8bit colorspace.
