  • Media Manager always includes master clips outside selection

Posted by Nis Boye on July 2, 2006 at 10:00 am

I’ve been using Media Manager i FCP 5.0.4 with great results for a while now.
But suddenly it’s giving me trouble

Even though I uncheck “include master clips outside selection” it insists on on copying all files in the project in their full lenght.
Also the summary doesn’t change when I uncheck “include master clips outside selection”

    I put up a screendump https://nisboye.dk/FCP_MM.jpg

I think the problem started after I recompressed a timeline to Offline RT

    I have also tried:
    1. opening the project on another computer, same problem.
    2. copying the timeline onto a new timeline, same problem

Any tips on getting my Media Manger to work again?

you could try trashing your prefs:
    https://www.lafcpug.org/Tutorials/basic_trash_prefs5.html

in the short term if you copy the sequence into a new project you’ll be able to media manage OK.
being in a new project, the copied sequence will have no ties to the master clips at all.

    Trashing the prefs didn’t help.
Neither did copying the sequence in to a new project.

But after I trashed the prefs one thing did happen: The modified size changed a little when I checked and unchecked “Include master clips outside the selection” – but not nearly enough.

132 GB seem a little to much for a 100 minutes of DV footage…

check your reel numbers in the reel column.

for what ever reason there may be some clips that don’t have a reel#
    MM wont trim those clips.
(MM believes they dont come from a tape source, and may be the only instances of that media in the universe)

    super!

I gave the clips reel #, and now, there is no problem.

    Thank a lot
