December 8, 2006 at 3:22 pmMatchmover only outputs 2D data when using the direct AE output. It’s stated somewhere on their website. Pretty much every other tracker does the same. Unless they provide a special importer like Boujou, AE has no way of knowing how to handle the 3D data. You have to take the long way round by adding an intermediate step in your 3D app and using the tools provided there.

December 8, 2006 at 5:50 pmYou’re on the right track using the .ma file in AE. But you just need to use it right. It’s not something that can be simply explained here. Trust me, once you get it, it’s a perfect match.
Search for tutorials to get ma files working in AE. Personally I output 3D data to C4D and use C4D’s AE project creator to go from 3D tracker to AE but I used to use the .ma way and it works great once you wrap your head around it.
