FCP 4.5 digitizing problem
Hi-
I have FCP 4.5 on my PowerBook and have recently upgraded to Tiger. Since then I’ve run into several problems with FCP and DVD Studio Pro. The FCP problem is that the program will not let me select which firewire device is connected for digitizing. It says that the device is missing even though it is connected and is allowing me to remotely control (ff, rw, play, stop) the fotage. When I try to batch capture it even finds the start of the first clip. Then it just keeps capturing until I tell it to stop (ignoring the timecode after it finds the start of the first clip). If I try to ‘capture now’, there is an error saying that a video device must be selected. What really pisses me off is that when I try to select a device, all of the video capture options are unavailable. They are grayed out, not allowing me to select any video devices.I’m not using a good DV deck, just a consumer Sony DV cam. But it has worked well in the past and works fine with Imovie. It even partially works with FCP. Are there some Tiger upgrades that I need to get for FCP 4.5?

What kind of firewire devices do you have? Are you using a machine and a firewire drive? If so, you might want to check into a firewire adapter card to go on your Powerbook. Most of the time, you can one see one device at a time. Like I have two decks that both use firewire for machine control, I can only use one at a time.
