  Paste Attributes Problem – end key frame

  I am doing a simple slide show of stills that are 7 seconds long. They all have zooms. Each clip dissolves into the next (2 second dissolve)

  I have my “Scale” key frames set 1 second BEFORE the 7 second clip and 1 second AFTER the 7 second clip. This way, when I add a 2 second dissolve between clips the zooming motion has already started in the beginning or hasn’t stopped at the end.

  I’d like to COPY attributes from the first clip and PASTE ATTRIBUTES to all the other clips so I don’t have to manually place my key frames in.

  The beginning key frame is correct. {1 second before the clip begins}
  The ending key frame IS WRONG. It ends up being at the exact end of the 7 second clip and NOT 1 SECOND AFTER.

  When I Paste Attributes I have tried it both with the “Scale Attribute Times” ON and OFF. Either way the same thing happens. The last key frame is at the end of the clip instead of 1 second afterwards.

  Anyone have any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

  I have trashed preferences and tried it in another project with just Matte Colors and the same thing happens.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Well, all of the attributes must be DURING the clip (they can’t come AFTER).

  You could make your clips one second longer than you need on-screen and “stagger” them on the video tracks.

  Vary the opacity to make them fade in and/or out.

  It actually copies and pastes the keyframe that is 1 second BEFORE the clip. That keyframe is not DURING the clip and it copies fine. It’s the keyframe AFTER the clip that doesn’t copy. Strange.

  I’m just doing each by hand, not a big deal.

  For $20 you could use Digital Heaven’s “DH-Fade” plug in.

Strange. < FCP may not be seeing media after the Out Point if you have set the length to 7 seconds. visible media before the in point is puzzling, yes. But, if your clip is nine seconds long, both of those keyframes should appear where you expect. If I was doing this, having motion beginning before the dissolves start, I'd be doing as Matte suggested: Using longer clips and trimming the content. I do slide shows often and I tend to use separate video tracks, overlapping the clips and setting transparency fades manually. bogiesan
