  • Help with timecode generator filter

So I’m putting the final cut pro timecode generator on a 22 minute video clip. When I look through the video I noticed spots where there is no timecode burn in and the blue/grey bar above it in the time line instead of green. If I try to render it…. it still doesn’t come in. I tried to rerender the original timeline and then re output the file as a new quicktime movie but when I drop it into a new timeline and apply the filter.. same thing.. sporadic places where the burn in is not working. It’s mainly entire shots but sometimes I get a few frames within a shot that don’t have the burnin and then it goes back to working a few frames later. Any ideas?

I’m using the latest final cut with a dual G5, plenty of RAM and raid drives. I’ve done this for the previous seven epsidoes of the series and this is the first time I’ve had any problems with the time code generator. Thanks in advance!

Sounds to me like your render setting are not set to render all. Make sure they will render everything.
Also the timecode filter will drop off where there is no video at all, so insert black (slug) wherever that may occur.

Sorry if this is to simple of an answer, but I thought I would throw it out any way.

The TC filers do not apply TC where there are gaps or a slug placed on the timeline.

I’m guessing this isn’t the issue, but I just thought I’d throw it our in case it was and no one else mentioned it.
