  Hello there,

  I have filmed on a 16:9 chip camera (DSR 450) and edited on FCP. I exported the film as a 16:9 mpeg2 and then encoded as a 16:9 Letterbox DVD on DVD studio Pro.

  Yet the people in my film looked strecthed when viewed on a widescreen TV. They characters look “normal” when viewed in 4:3.

  If you are watching the letterboxed version on a native 16×9 widescreen tv then you have in essence double letterboxed the image. Try setting the 16×9 monitor to view 4×3 or center cut area only.

  Letterbox images are meant to be viewed on 4:3 tv. Letterbox allows viewing the full widescreen image on a 4×3 non widescreen tv.

  If you desire to view 16×9 native on a 16×9 native tv then you need to create a 16×9 anamorphic timeline and output to DVD as 16×9 anamorphic.
