  • Aliasing problems in document montage

I am currently working on a project that has many scanned documents. I scanned them at 200dpi. In order to add some interest to what is otherwise a less that riveting subject I am creating a number of montages with these docs moving around and interacting. My problem is with aliasing and stair-stepping on the vertical and horizontal lines especially as the documents rotate.

Can any reader give me an idea on how to minimize this?

I am working in SD video 720×480.

    Thanks

    HI there,

You scanned the images at 200 dpi, but what are the file sizes of the images when you pull them into AE? One thing that comes to mind is maybe try using the reduce interlace effect. What field order are you rendering?

Many thanks to all for responding. I solved the problem thusly: rescanned at 600dpi-Added an adjustment layer with a level adjust effect (to knock the white down a little) and the video interlace filter-out putted as an OMF. Before I was outputting as a QT at the “animation” quality, the OMF output gave me nice smooth motion and no aliasing. Imported into my Avid Dxpress Pro as a OMF and it looked great.
