I’ve been running into an issue multiple times in Final Cut Pro. I have video track one with my master video, then on tracks 2 and 3 I have videos that have transparency information. The issue is that FCP appears to only support one or the other, but not both at the same time. Does anyone know how to fix such an issue? Thanks!

    >The issue is that FCP appears to only support one or the other, but not both at the same time.< My guess is a premutliplication issue, they may all need to be straight, but straight alphas is all I ever use and I can stack 'em up to the ceiling without a transparency issue. What about your RT settings? It's possible you have hit the limit of your machine's ability to process alphas without stepping down a quality notch. Where did these problem media files come from? bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

One of the files is just a targa with a Final Cut Pro mask applied (which is nested), then the second video is one created through AE, exported with the Animation Codec with RGB + Alpha. I’ll have to check my playback settings when I get into work. Thanks for the reply.

Are you sure the alphas are interpreted properly? SOmetimes FCP doesn’t get it right and tries to do a black premult instead of straight. Post back, let us know.
