Here in the newsroom we have had people sending us MPEG files with the audio embedded. Sometimes I can get the audio to play in quicktime, sometimes not. I can never get the audio to work in Final Cut or if I try using compressor to convert the file to DV-NTSC. Its as if the audio isn’t there.

Sometimes I can play the file in a nearby PC, with a cord running from the PC’s output to a mixer, but this is Rube-Goldburg and sounds like crud. And of course I have to re-sync it by hand.

Any ideas for getting audio out of these Muxed MPegs? Specifically Its MPEG 2.

    Usually the video converts OK.
