FCP 5.1 Not saving projects
Hi
We are on a network consisting of 3 Mac’s with FCP 5.1. 1 to digitise with, 2 to edit with. When editor A came in this morning, and launched FCP, he had to reset his scratch disk (lacie2) as it was looking for this external drive. Once he had done this, his project did not automatically open up. He looked for his project but could not find his latest saved project which he force saved at 11.30pm the previous evening. When we looked in the auto save vault there was only a project saved at 10.35pm. Auto save is set at 15 minutes and there were no auto saves after 10.35pm. The only project (in the project folder) that he could find was a new project that he had created last week after he had had a crash. (the same thing happened to editor B on the same day,)???? could anyone help please??

No real thoughts on what went wrong on your end, but I can say that 5.1.1 is saving projects normally on the two systems we have with it.
Did the system crash at all while the editor was using it? Sounds like the prefs were tossed or something.

I’m not sure if this is worth anything…. but from time to time, my FCP system seems to just trash its own prefs and clear out the recently loaded programs. I have a feeling that is is something that Apple does on occassion just to mess with our minds…

I doubt very much we will be upgrading to 5.1.1. maybe it’s a 5.1 thing but it has happened again!! (the system did in fact crash whilst he was busy) and it is really frustrating my editors. They are losing a lot of work and we are in the middle of a drama series with a tight schedule.
No one seems to have any idea. Only that maybe to trash preferences and start over.

but it’s not only happening from time to time now, it seems to be on a weekly basis as it has happened again!! (the system crashed whilst the editor was busy and lost a lot of work, auto save, seems to save when it likes) and it is really frustrating my editors. They are losing a lot of work and we are in the middle of a drama series with a tight schedule.
No one seems to have any idea. Only that maybe to trash preferences and start over.
