    Hi
I am trying for days and nights to try to PRINT TO VIDEO using FCP via firewire and ADVC 100 converter box. I am trying to print my project back to VHS for a client and its just failing me to do so!!! I know i have it hooked up correctly as FCP is getting signal from the VHS but it’s just not recording! IS there some setting in FCP that I am forgetting to put in etc?
Can someone please please please help me !
    Thank you

  • There is a huge difference between getting a signal IN FROM a VHS deck and getting a signal OUT TO a VHS deck.

You must have all the cables going from the card’s OUT connected to the VHS decks INPUTS.

The VHS deck must be switched to record the A/V inputs (not the TV channels).

You must be able to see FCP’s output on the VHS deck’s monitor.

    After that all checks out…

Don’t bother to use “Print to Video”.

Just start recording on the VHS deck, and PLAY the FCP timeline.

    hi
I have tried all that also by just recording from the timeline but there is just one thing I am not sure of ie. The VHS deck must be switched to record the A/V inputs (not the TV channels).

    thank you

Most edit decks have a “line in” switch you can set to the inputs you need. Most consumer decks access this through the on screen menu. You want to set it for “line in” in the recording area on the on screen menu. There may be a choice of front or rear inputs.
