720p to 1080 conversion using HD Pro
Posted by Paul Ingvarsson on June 2, 2006 at 11:57 amHello there,
I may need to edit something in 720p but then master to an F500 HDCam. Can I rely on the quality of the BMD Decklink HD Pro – or would I be better getting a conversion afterwards??
Thanks,
Paul

If you’re not happy with the output of the Decklink, find any post house that has a Teranex converter.

This has been my experience as well. I have seen a number (over half a dozen) Projects get rejected in the US using this scenario, I would recommend the Teranex mini if your on a budget.

Any idea on price of the mini? The web site just has resellers and no MSRP listed.

I thought it was about $5,000 – $10,000 US.

The price on mine was $5200. (no DVI out)
a lot better than the hundred of thousands of dollars for the same basic functions 3 years ago.

Personally, I’d stick with the Kona 3 as it really looks nice here.
