    Hi there.

I’m doing an edit that needs a rough mix before it goes off to a pro for it’s final mix but I am encountering a strange problem.

I started my mix whilst I was doing the edit. I did this by grabbing the rubber bands and adjusting whole clips (Hey…I said it was rough!)
When I finished the edit I opened the FCP mixer and started to mix. All was fine until I came to do my second pass. the playhead moves across a clip but the slider on the mixer does not move. Then, after about 2 seconds, the slider clicks up to where is should be… THEN if I move the slider the volume alters but the slider graphic does not move! I cannot do my mix without seeing where my sliders are and I cannot see where my sliders are until 2 seconds after I need to alter them. ARRGGHHHH!

Anyway. I have trashed my prefs using good old FCP Rescue5 and have shut down and restarted so can anyone PLEASE help a very tired young chap.

    I am running:
    G5 dual 2.5
    2.5 gigs ram
500 gig media drive (300 free)
    FCP 5.1

    Many Thanks in advance!

    Dave

The ‘alt 6’ sliders I mean.

OK so I got to my suite this morning (after typing the last post in the thread) and none of my sliders were even giving me a level feedback let alone moving to the correct position. I trashed the preferences again and restarted but got the same thing.
Then I realised that I had 4 tracks switched off in my timeline. These were the music tracks and were switched off because I wanted to check the actors levels.
When I turned these tracks back on everything went back to normal. The levels were not only visable, but the sliders were changing and moving as they should.
If I mute the tracks instead of turning them off this does not happen.

Is this a bug I should report or is it a feature I missed when checking in the manual & online help?

I hope this helps someone pull less hair out of their head than I did mine!

    Cheers
    (a slightly balding) Dave
