I recently conformed on Avid Symphony Nitris 2- 45 sec spots one called 30 and one called 50. The spots were shot on DVC Pro 50. Both spots were cut on FCP 5 in the same project, digitzed w dvcpro50 codec. I had the FCP editor prepare a CMX340 edl that I could bring into the avid. Importing the edl did not work so I entered by hand the tc #s and since it was only a dozen edits in each, no problem. The 50 conformed just fine. The 30 came in with the shots out of sync relative to the audio omf that was supplied. I checked the supplied reference QT and sure enough the same shots were out of sync relative to their audio. I opened the project on my laptop w. FCP 5 and checked the clip tc #s and within the project, the tc #s were wrong as were the IN times on the sequence but when connected to the media that was on an external hard drive the seq played fine. Also, when the offline editor checked the tc #s with fcp tc burn in effect the #s did not match the clip tc

We’ve set edits via EDL and OMF from FCP 5.0x to AVID X (Sympony, DS etc) with quite varied results. Sometimes things just don’t work. We re-export everything and it works fine. We haven’t had any sync-issues though to either ProTools or AVID’s.

    We’ve always used CMX3600 I think it’s called though.
