matte points – annoying offset
when I add a garbage matte in fcp5 the points of the matte do not appear where I click but rather slightly higher and to the left. The offset is consistent so it’s not too difficult to work around, but it is irritating.
anyone seen this?

I have seen the same sinse V4.5. I find that if I select the control point in the filter control panel and HOLD the mouse button down while draging the control point is helpful.

Don’t know if this is your issue, but the matte points have always ignored the motion tab settings. So if you’ve moved the image to the lower right, then they’ll be offset to the upper left, etc.
I generally try to adjust the garbage mattes before I make motion tab adjustments.

no motion settings are at default – good tip from Blub – but even when dragging the position of the cross-hairs is offset from the matte positioning points
