exporting to after effects?
hi all… im a longtime media 100 user and we had this nifty little option called export to after effects where it would export the timeline as a comp that could be opened in after effects. This was a free option and came with every system. But apple only lets you export to motion. is the only way to export a timeline out of fcp is to buy a program called automatic duck? thats a bummer.

Well media 100 was kinda forced to come up with something, since it basically had 2 layers and no compositing and motion effects capabilities of it’s own.

Get auto duck. It will save you time, effort, and eventually money. Wes Plate is awesome and support is great. Bite the bullet and get it.

It ain’t all that bad, Bobby. This is really only one of the things that will drive you nuts about FCP but eventually you’ll forget all about Ye Olde M100. (Close All Gaps is another one I really miss and FCP’s AutoSelect is going to make you scream.)You just need to think about your workflow differently. However, if you were not using M100 before Export to AE was available, you may have never developed the procedures.
If you do lots of multi-layered stuff you must invest in Automatic Duck. I don’t use it myself but I have never seen a negative post about the products.
