Decision made: I am going to scrap my tempermental G4 D1.25 1G system and get a new one. The new system will be used only for this single project.

I am fishing for suggestions on what system will do best for my project, which I will describe:

    Project info:

    Full Length Documentary

    Source materials:
10 Hours DVCAM footage – Super 8 Film Tranfers – All digitized into QT
2 Hours DigiBeta – 16mm Film Transfers – (not digitized yet)
15 Hours HDV (XL-H1) Interviews (not digitized yet)
1,000 35mm Slides (not digitized yet)
5 Hours MiniDV – all digitized into QT

    Thanks-
    Hepkat

You left out the most important fact, what format(s) do you want to delivery the final in? And then the second question is what codec was the film (I would assume DV/DVCAM but it would be better to know for sure) captured in.

Do you have a budget? A new mac mini will smoke your desktop.

“”A new mac mini will smoke your desktop.””

    Not according to this:

FC Studio will load but does not meet minimum system requirements.

It’s best to stay with an expandable desktop, unless you have something else in mind, of course.
