    FCP 5.1.1 now prompts you for your Sequence Preset when you create a new project and every time you create a new Sequence. Much welcomed addition to the workflow instead of FCP automatically creating a sequence and then having to change it if you don’t want it to match the Easy Setup.

    I think this is actually not new. This has been an optional preference setting for a while. Yours somehow got turned on without you knowing. Mine stayed off (which is fine, because I almost always work in 10 bit uncompressed).

    As previous versions of FCP had this feature (being able to prompt for new sequence settings) should I assume from your posting that;

    5.1.1 defaults to this behaviour and /or;

    you can no longer disable this feature.

    It must default On now then. I trashed all prefs after the 5.1.1 install and this popped up. Actually very glad to have this in our workflow.

    Yeah, its been there for along time. Its always been one of the first things I turn on when I install a new version of FCP. I’m glad its on by default now.

    It is still not the default condition. The preset selection has always opened up after you trash your preferences, but new sequences still automatically create a sequence in the selected preset. Cmd-N makes a new sequence with the selected preset. Cmd-Opt-N opens the sequence preset dialog before making the new sequence.

    All the best,

    Tom

    [Tom Wolsky] “It is still not the default condition.”

    Well then it must be default on my computers here in the shop. After trashing the prefs, this automatically shows up. We haven’t turn anything on in the prefs prior to starting projects.
