23.98/29.97 HD workflow issue
Hello-
I am currently working on a project that was shot on the Cinealta HD camera at 23.98 fps. Before bringing the footage into FCP HD, we dubbed all the tapes to DVCPRO at 29.97 fps; this is what we imported into Final Cut. The project is picture locked and we’re ready to res up back to HD quality; however, I’m a bit new at this procedure and I’m undergoing a few issues with this process:
My sequence timebase so far has been 29.97 fps, since I’ve been working from DVCPRO dubs. I plan on resing up using the AVID Nitris system (this is my only option), so I’ll need to export a cut list. Thing is, I figure I’ll need to create a 23.98 sequence of my project so that the cut list properly matches the timebase of my HD tapes. I’ve tried doing this with CinemaTools but with little results. Is there a way to create a 23.98 fps copy of my final sequence without screwing up all my edits? Also, once I have this problem resolved, could anyone tell me the exact settings to export an EDL so that my footage will be properly batch captured using the Nitris system?
Thanks,
-E
