  Using 30 frame, interlaced footage in 24P Advanced Timeline

  Hi.

  I have a project I shot in 24P Advanced with Panasonic DXC 100 cameras. I’ve been cutting everything in Final Cut with the Advance Pulldown setting. Now I need to incorporate some 3O fps, interlaced footage and I’m finding it looks pretty bad when I render it in the 24p Advanced timeline. Also, I’m trying to do some moving type graphics in motion and they look pretty jittering in 24P as well. Is there some step I’m missing here? Is it better to bring my 24P A footage in as standard DV?

  Are you looking at this on an NTSC monitor or your computer screen?

  Well, both actually. In the NTSC monitor all the movement looks extra jerky. I’m used to it being somewhat that way, as when I use nattress film effects to make 30 frames look like 24, but this is a little too much. The movement looks a little smoother in the the CRT, but during movement the edges of images show these horizontal lines.

  I think I see where you’re going, though. Maybe I need to output something to tape or DVD and see what it looks like then?
