help? Poor Audio Quality When Re-opening Project
Now, there may be something very simple that I overlooking, but here is my problem:
When I am working with a stereo aiff music file and first import it into my timeline, it appears in the timeline with the clip name and a thin green line at the top of the clip. When I preview the audio it sounds clear and just the same as the source. However, when I save the project and come open it later, the audio clip in the timeline looses “depth” and sounds like it has lost stereo and quality, plus the thin green line at the top of the clip is now blue. I tried to render the audio and export the project but it doesn’t change. When I drag the end of the affected clip out to reveal a part that was cut before, the newly revealed section of the clip has the thin green line and sounds like it should. Any idea what is going on here? Thank you!

The thin green line means that the settings of that file do not match the settings of your timeline which should be 48k 16 bit, and FCP wants to render the file. After you render the line turns blue. Your audio file should be 48k 16 bit. Open the offending file in quicktime, export sound to aiff and make sure your settings are set to 48k 16 bit stereo.
