    hey guys,

    i’m running into a head sratcher here…

I have a Sony DSR-1500A that’s been hooked up to a FCP 5.0.4 thru SDI on Decklink for a year or so..and the guys here are taking that 1500A to a remote site and connect it to a Powerbook there. The 1500A has a firewire connection in the back and once i connect it to the FCP via firewire, it appears okay..the timecode is there in the capture screen, and the image is there..but the FCP doesnt respond when i press the play button. nor does it respond when i try to scrub forward or back..it acts like if there is no remote going on.

i have FCP setup thru NTSC-DV easy setup and fiddled with Firewire NTSC and NTSC basic..and no luck. i’ve done this on two mac’s now. one powermacG5 and the powerbook and both give me the same issue…it reads the timecode and says VTR OK, but controls dont respond nor can i capture anything.

i fear there is setting im overlooking inside the 1500A..

can anyone help me on this??

Bunches of things to do. First, make sure you have the SDI/ilink button set to ilink. Make sure firewire is plugged in. Make sure the remote/local switch it set to remote. Hit the menu button and go to system setup. Go down to interface, Hit the right button to go to next menu, it will probably say Video out. scroll down to remote I/F. Hit right button again to make sure it says ilink, if not change it.
That’s all the things I can think of. Good luck.

    yup..that was the culprit.

the funny thing is that i didnt find the interface menu until i switched the menu grade from basic to enhanced..once its enhanced, a whole slew of new menus appeared..including interface…

    thanks!
