  Getting geared up for SD

  Hello all there out in COW land.

  My system is a Dual 2.3 Ghz PowerPC G5 with 3 GB DDR SDRAM. I’m using a Decklink Extreme card to capture. I capture and edit using DV and online on a Smoke. I would like to upgrade this system to be able to capture and edit SD.
  It’s my understanding that all I need to accomplish this is to purchase a SCSI card and a SCSI RAID.

  I’ve done some research here on the COW and on the web on this, but I consider myself semi technical.

  SCSI isn’t necessary for SD and in fact its no longer prefered as Apple no longer supports it. SATA is your best bet, and firewire is second. For a great do it yourself kit check out my post from a few months back at https://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_read_post.cgi?forumid=8&postid=881915
