I have a Power Mac G5, with Panther and am using FCP 5 with DVD Studio 3 along with compressor 2.0.1.

I compressed a 1 hour and fifteen minute video with settings of:

DVD Best Video 4:3 90 minutes All
Video Format: NTSC, 29.97, 4:3, bottom First
Quality: Two Pass VBR Best, Avg. Bit rate 3.5 Mbps, Max. Bit Rate 8.0, Motion Estimation is Best

Here’s the Problem: Under the Summary Tab it Estimates the File Size at 1.96 GB, but when I compress it ends up creating 3.87 GB file. By the time I add the compressed audio and get the file to DVD Studio Pro 3 my file is 4.9GB. I’ve changed settings 4 times and it’s wasting hours.

    What to do?

I think your audio is not compressed. Compressor has two options for the audio: AIFF and Dolby 2.0. The AIFF is actually uncompressed and will take up 650 MB for 72 minutes. the Dolby will take up MUCH less space. Remove the AIFF from the DVD project and use Dolby. If your video is only 3.89GB, it will fit with the Dolby audio.
