    I shot a scene on a PAL 3CCD camcorder.
I captured onto FCP5 platform with a NTSC single CCD camcorder.

I am still new to FCP5, I have 2 questions:

I have used iDVD to create a DVD of my scene. When I viewed it on a tv or computer, the footage has a black matte around the whole image, a border, it isn’t screening as 16:9 widescreen. The image is about half the size of the screen. Also, there seems to be a slight pixelation problem, there is a degree of artifacting going on, it isn’t as clear as it should be. Thirdly, the fluidity of the motion seems almost robotic, not that noticable but it seems to almost strobe a bit.

What could be causing these problems and how do you recommend I solve them?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your PAL to NTSC conversion isn’t very good. The black “matte” could be from the fact that the camera that you are digitizing from is creating this? You see this in FCP?

As for the stuttering and pixelation, I think Graeme Nattress has a PAL to NTSC conversion tool. Edit the whole thing in PAL and then convert it.

    Hope this helps-
