Print to Video – Not working….Desperatley need help
Hi everyone,
I have digitzed DV footage into FCP using my Sony handycam via firewire, FCP easy setup – DVNTSC. I need to output the digitzed footage onto betacam SP. My Beta Deck is hooked up through a Canopus ADVC-100 through firewire. I have S-Video out of the Beta deck into the Canopus and my left and right audio are out of the Beta deck (using BNC to RCA adapters) into the canopus. I did a test run of Print to video and nothing recorded onto the beta. I put in an old beta with footage on it to see if I could capture…I captured video fine, but audio came through as a very annoying buzzing. I dont care about the capturing, but I need to output this footage by the end of the day, otherwise Im in big trouble….Someone please help me out, Thanks so much

You said you had the BetaCam OUTPUTS sent to your ADVC-100.
Do you have the BetaCam INPUTS connected?
There would need to be a video cable (BNC or S-Video) and 2 audio cables (XLR on the Beta deck.)
I assume you have the RS-422 CONTROL cable from the Mac to the deck if you tried a capture.
If you got nothing but BUZZ in the audio, you have some audio connector problems, but those cables (BetaCam output) won’t affect your ability to output back to Beta tape.
It takes a LOT of cables (and, sometimes, adapters) to connect these devices.

I print to video utilizing my BlackMagic DeckLink SP card, this sends a component signal to the BetaSP. If you don’t have a card that links FCP to your BetaSP deck directly via software and hardware, try doing it via your regular monitoring outputs.
Make sure you DOWNMIX the audio for your timeline. Make sure everything is rendered on your timeline. And you are playing back at the highest quality.
Take what ever video and audio inputs you have going to your monitor and hook them up to the inputs on your BetaSP. Then just hit play on your timeline and hit Play and Record on the BetaSP machine.
This should work in a pinch until you figure out what your problem is in hooking up through FCP.

The audio problem could be an overload.
If I’m not mistaken your hooking up a consumer grade unbalanced audio connection (canopus box) to a balanced +3 or +6 box (betasp deck)
Chances are when you go back to tape, the volume will be extremely
low since your going unbalanced to balanced.
