  • General Error when exporting

I am working on a project in FCP 5. I have a edited sequence that is 41 mins long. I am trying to export the sequence with standard settings and after it finishes exporting it says General Error and won’t export the project. Does anyone know if there is a limit on the length of files you can export because i decreased the length of my clip to 35 min and it worked fine. Does anyone know why i’m receiving this general error? Thanks for you help

How much space is available on the drive you are wanting to export to?

What are your “standard settings”? Are you working in DV, SD, Uncompressed, HD?

There’s honestly no such thing as “standard settings”. Standard to your normal workflow, yes, but unless you tell us what that is, we can’t know.

I just exported over two hours of DV, so it’s likely not a program length issue. I’d watch those last 6 minutes for signs of corrupted media, or just trash the renders and re-render that section.

Is the drive you’re exporting to formatted HFS+, aka Mac OS Extended?
