This topic has sparked quite a debate over on the Avid-L2 over the past few months. It will be interesting to see how it’s going to affect the industry.

That’s kind of interesting, and just a tiny bit scary. They certainly have the expertise, and Indian universities are very good.

Remember that the biggest film industry in the world is centered in Mumbai (nee Bombay). BTW, some recent animated film, I want to say ‘Hoodwinked’, was outsourced to both the Philippines & Mumbai. And it’s no secret that lots of TV animation has been done offshore for years now.

Major Film Animation too.. “Curious George” was done in Philipines, Canada, Korea, a few US studios.

I heard Warner Brothers Feature Animation is selling off all their light tables.. Kind of sad.

“We’re not offshoring anchors yet, but anything behind the camera should no longer be done onshore.”

It’s kind of hard to have a journalist in, say, Bangalore, Mumbai, or Xian, for that matter, shoot news footage in, say, Chicago or New York or even LA (which is at least on the West coast!).

I heard rumors that Good Eats was being outsourced to Bangalore, and that the entire state of Georgia was soon being outsourced to New Delhi.
