camera following point and creating an outline?
I wanted to achieve an effect where there is a dot or something, drawing out the outline of new york city. (like just the top outline). I was wondering if there a way to achieve this effect more simplier than what i had in mind. i had in mind to have a dot follow a path or move around screen in the outline i wanted, and then go frame by frame to put the lines that the dot traveled passed in that time. (hope that makes sense?) or i was thinking of drawing the entire outline and using a mask to hide the portions not visible yet and move it along the outline to reveal the picture.
but i also wanted to have like the dot centered throughout the movie like the camera was zoomed up close while the outline of the city was being made and when it finished the camera would zoom out to reveal the entire picture.
i was wondering if its possible to make the camera follow a point so like even if the point moves on the composition, the camera would still have that point focused in the center.jeez, i hope that makes sense. im not at my home computer with after effects so i can’t really experiement, so im just trying to think a lot now. thanks for any advice!

Copy & paste tha mask shape to the position property of the camera. Then simply adjust the timing for everything to stay in sync.
