Can FCP capture 32-bit w/ alpha channel?

April 6, 2006 at 10:58 pmWell it’s not actually z-depth captured by a camera with that capability. I’m actually wanting to render the z-depth out from a game engine in realtime – just as an alpha map. So even if FCP can’t use that alpha channel as z info., I just want to know if it can capture it so that I can then take that into Shake or AE to use it to render a pre-vis of DOF.

April 6, 2006 at 11:22 pmNot sure what you mean by capture it. If you mean directly from a game playing in real-time, then no, that information isn’t available. If you create the 3D animation you could take it directly to Shake or AE.
