  pencil drawing in after effects?

  i was just wondering if pencil drawing animation can be done in after efects using any techniqes.

  mask animation based on scanned-in drawings (rough sequences/ inbetweens as templates), probably with some 3D involvement using cartoony shading in a 3D program.
