I have a project I’m working on that’s been a bit of a bear. At one point I made a few edits and it would not place the sequence past that point and I would get a “General Error.” Any idea what that means?

Also, I can’t export or render. If I try to render I get a warning about some codec not being on the hardware and if I try to export a QT it just fails.

The one thing I did notice on this is that there seems to be a lot of folders in the scratch disk. I saved it as a new project at one point and I think and that may have caused that – but otherwise I’m stumped.

Do you have After Effects running at the same time? I get this error when either FCP or AE won’t release my Blackmagic card when switching between aps.

It also happens when quicktime is running.
Quit everything but FCP and all should be fine.
If not, do a restart and open ONLY FCP.
